Alumna Awarded 2015 Opening Hotel of the Year

Chaplin School alumna Suria Plante ‘96 was recently awarded the 2015 Opening Hotel of the Year for her exceptional management of the Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port - Marriott. After joining the Marriott team in March, Plante and her team were able to secure $700,000 in revenue before the hotel opened in October - a feat that no doubt helped them stand out among the nominees. "After almost 30 years in the hotel business and opening over 5 hotels, this is the first time I have been part of a team to win such a prestigious award," said Plante. "This speaks volumes to the organization, support, team effort and great people who came together to make this happen." Plante has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Before joining Residence Inn, she served as regional director of sales and marketing for JDR Hotels and as Southeast Florida area manager for the InterContinental Hotel Group.
