Larger events are inherently more complicated, requiring additional security and facility concerns, as well as presenting greater budgetary and marketing pressures. Candidates would receive a rare opportunity to enhance their event management skills in producing programs for over 10,000 attendees. Courses focus on festivals, trade shows, major conventions, sports events, and concerts.

For candidates who want to jump start their careers with an advanced degree designed to give students an in-depth knowledge about the business of real estate and development in the hospitality industry. Students will learn to bridge the gap between development and real estate to accomplish a company’s expansion goals. They will be prepared to become an integral part of teams focused on research, analysis, site selection and development.

Graduate students interested in conducting research in hospitality and tourism management research during graduate and post-graduate studies can choose the thesis track of the Master of Science in Hospitality Management. This 33-credit program includes a three-credit thesis course and a three-credit elective.

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF®) is a national, star-studded, five-day destination event showcasing the talents of the world’s most renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs and culinary personalities. Student volunteers benefit from:

Admissions standards for the Master of Science degree in Hospitality Management:

  • An earned four-year bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale
  • An applicant with an undergraduate upper division grade point average (GPA) of less than 3.0 should submit scores of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
    • Students who have earned a minimum 3.0 (as evaluated by the University Graduate Admission’s office) are waived from the GRE or GMAT requirement

International Students

  • International graduate student applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
    • 550 on the paper based TOEFL (with no sub-score below 52)
    • 80 on the internet- based TOEFL (iBT) (with no sub-score below 17)
    • 6.5 overall on the IELTS (with no sub-score below 5.5)
  • Translations of your transcripts to English are necessary
