The Jason Kulpa Scholarship was created to help students who have a goal of attending college at at Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management to create a lucrative career for themselves to have the opportunity to do so. The entry method is simple and we have outlined the full details below:

Note: The scholarship amount is $1,000 and submissions are due no later than May 31st, 2018 with a winner being selected and awarded by the committee by June 30th, 2018.

Who’s Eligible?

High school students who will graduate in 2018 and have already been selected to attend a college or university.
Students currently enrolled in a college or university but have yet to reach their senior year.
Guidelines

In order to enter for a chance to receive this scholarship you have to write a 500-word essay on the topic, “Marketing Predictions for 2019”.

Scholarships are only awarded to students starting school in the Fall who are admitted before the November 1 deadline.

Exclusive Honors scholarships are available for current and incoming Honors College students. FIU’s online scholarship application tool, AcademicWorks, will allow you to search and apply for Honors College scholarships and other scholarships at FIU.

To start a scholarship application on AcademicWorks:

1. Login at fiu.academicworks.com with your MyAccounts username and password. (You must have already activated your FIU e-mail account and have a Panther ID number)
2. Fill out the general scholarship application. AcademicWorks will search our database of awards and recommend scholarships you may be eligible to apply for. For some, you will automatically be entered into the applicant pool; for others, you may need to answer additional questions.
3. To search for the Honors College scholarships (listed below), type “Honors College” in the search tab.

It is important for you to know whether you are a qualified “First Generation” student. To be considered First Gen, you must have put on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that neither of your parents COMPLETED a bachelor’s degree. If that is the case but you answered the FAFSA incorrectly, you must go to https://studentaid.ed.gov/fafsa/next-steps/correct-update and file an amendment to your FAFSA to be eligible for First Generation scholarships.

Graduate Funding Opportunities

The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation academic scholarship applications are only accepted from February to April 15 each year. Applicants can be attending any school, and must complete all sections of the AHLEF scholarship application. Please note that any applications received from April 16 through December 31 will not be reviewed because the information provided will be outdated for the next school year.

There are two types of scholarships: School-Nominated and Self-Nominated.

To be considered for the undergraduate scholarships that are school-nominated, please send your resume, panther ID, major, and expected date of graduation to angelor@fiu.edu on or before March 16, 2018.

School-Nominated Eligibility:

• Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in a hospitality-related degree-granting program
• At least a sophomore
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has been working with accredited universities around the globe to offer a unique program to fourth-year undergraduates and recent university graduates interested in pursuing a career in the business travel industry. Thanks to funding from BCD Travel, up to three Fellowship winners will be invited to participate in ACTE’s 2015 Around the World program — a six-week immersion learning program that leads to a six-month management development program with BCD Travel, and the potential for permanent employment.

The Mary Tabacchi Scholarship was created in 2006 through the International SPA Association Foundation and is named in honor of industry pioneer and Cornell University Associate Professor Mary H. Tabacchi, Ph.D., R.D.  Students interested in a spa management-related career are encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2014.

Recipients receive a $5,000 scholarship for tuition reimbursement.

• Complimentary registration and travel expense stipend for the annual ISPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
• The recipient will be assigned a one-year mentor from the Mary Tabacchi Scholarship Selection Committee.
• A complimentary, one-year ISPA Student Membership.

Eligibility:

Please carefully review the eligibility requirements before completing the application.  A selection committee will review applications based on the following requirements.

Desired applicant:

1. will be a junior, senior or grad student in the upcoming school year, enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s program of a related discipline, i.e. business, health science, hospitality or spa management, and pursuing a spa management/spa leadership/spa entrepreneurial-related career.  Please note, seniors applying for this scholarship must be enrolled in classes for the fall 2014 semester to be eligible.
2. has completed or is enrolled in courses with a strong emphasis in business, management, analytics and/or entrepreneurship.
3. has a minimum GPA (or international equivalent) of 3.0.
4. has completed/is currently completing a spa-related internship/externship or has conducted/currently conducting a project, paper, research initiative, etc. that has a demonstrated focus on the spa industry and can provide details of the skills and experiences gained during said internship/externship or project/paper/research initiative in his/her resume.
5. is involved in on- or off-campus organizations or clubs and demonstrates leadership roles held in such organizations or clubs.
6. submits the following required materials no later than April 30, 2014:
   • a completed scholarship application including detailed responses to Section 3 Essay Questions;
   • original college transcripts that include evidence of courses taken and current GPA (or international equivalent);
   • two reference letters;
   • a professional resume.

Tourism Cares awards up to 29 Academic Scholarships annually ranging from $2,000 from $4,000, for a total of more than $62,000.  The Academic Scholarships benefit high school, undergraduate or graduate level students of travel, tourism or hospitality related programs of study at accredited schools within the U.S. and Canada.

General Application Criteria for all Tourism Cares Academic Scholarships:

• Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada (exception: graduate research scholarships are international)
• Full or part-time student enrolled in a travel, tourism or hospitality related program of study
• Enrolled in the fall semester of a two or four year university in the U.S. or Canada.
• Cumulative or overall minimum 3.0 G.P.A.
• Open to UG students enrolled in second half of career: sophomores in associates program, juniors or seniors in bachelors; or graduate level students at any time (with the exception of the 1 High School Scholarship)
