2014 – 2016 Strategic Plan
The Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management aims to become a food and beverage science epicenter that will house a data repository and clearinghouse for information and research in the areas of food, wine, beer, and spirits. The dean has identified strategic areas that will facilitate the attainment of this ambitious goal.
Key Points
This multi-year initiative is the University’s roadmap for enabling students to act as engaged global citizens through an integrated global learning curriculum and co-curriculum; all FIU undergraduates have multiple opportunities to develop global awareness, a global perspective, and an attitude of global engagement.
At the core of the School’s vision to create graduates with competency in financial management in the hospitality industry are the plans for the construction of a Hospitality Real Estate and Financial Management Center. Creation of the Center will provide the space necessary to provide elements of the following: classrooms, laboratory space for research, software utilization workrooms, data repository, simulation design and development center, conference hosting and production areas, student club and organization meeting areas, and student mentoring spaces.
Facilitate programs such as Learning Skills for Life in partnership with DIAGEO and participating in University-wide learning programs such as Alternative Breaks in Nicaragua in addition to mentoring students in underserved communities in Miami.
Partner with STEM-related colleges at FIU and other academic institutions around the world.
IHTER delivers quality professional development, training, continuing education, research, and life-long learning opportunities worldwide through certificate and seminar programs, symposia, round tables, webinars, online experiences, speaker and consultant bureaus, and travel edutours.
